Obituary for Steven Reitz

Donna, TX/ Monticello,Illinois- Steve Reitz, 72, passed away on Sunday, December 11th, 2022, at Knapp Medical Center due to a massive heart attack. Steve was born on September 5th, 1950, to Wilbur and Gladys (Dale) Reitz in Paxton, Illinois. 

Steve married Brenda Smith on April 7th, 1986, and they lived in Monticello, Illinois, for the next thirty years. Steve worked for Supervalu in Champaign, Illinois. After Steve retired from truck driving, he and Brenda found their way to the warmer South Texas climate. In 2017, they relocated to Victoria Palms in Donna, Texas. Steve loved the resort and met so many friendly people. Steve’s outgoing and charismatic personality quickly gained him and Brenda new and priceless friendships. Steve was generous and would willingly help people whether they asked for it or not! 

Steve enjoyed camping and boating while living in Illinois. He and Brenda also enjoyed fun trips to Las Vegas. Steve loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and dogs Foxie, Byrdie, and Mitzi! He was fond of Fireball, so have a shot in his memory! 

As per Steve’s wishes, there will be no services. He will be missed by all who knew him. 

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Gladys Reitz. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, his daughter, Valerie Spiering (Lance), his son, Steven “Matt” Reitz, brother, Gary Reitz (Judy); sisters, Kathy Lewisndowski (Art+) and Betty Russell (Jamie); and grandchildren, Dalton, Hailey, and Carly Jo.
