PAXTON — Katherine “Kitty” Dorsey-Larson Anderson, 64, of rural Paxton, died at 12:45 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Federated Church, 221 W. Center St., Paxton, with the Rev. Colleen Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services in Paxton is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Anderson was born Sept. 29, 1950, in Urbana, a daughter of H.P. “Bud” Larson Jr. and Wanda Spencer Larson. She married Greg Anderson on June 12, 1976, at the Federated Church in Paxton. He survives.
Also surviving are two children, Matt (Sarah) Anderson of Chicago and Anna (Nick) Ragle of Champaign; one granddaughter; two brothers, H.P. (Donna) Larson III of Arlington, Va., and Bobby Larson of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Judith (Dr. William) Larson Hay of Denver, Colo.; her mother-in-law, Maxine Anderson of Paxton; one sister-in-law, Gayle (Calvin) Jordan of rural Paxton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Jane Hemrich.
Mrs. Anderson graduated from Paxton High School in 1968 and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southern Illinois University. She was a teacher in the Rantoul City Schools district for many years.
Mrs. Anderson was an active member of the Federated Church. She was involved with the Paxton Carnegie Library and was instrumental in getting Paxton’s public swimming pool re-opened several years ago. She enjoyed swimming, reading and gardening. Her family was very important to her. She was especially devoted to her children and granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to the Federated Church in Paxton, Paxton Carnegie Library or the Paxton swimming pool.
